Gombe NBA condemns 12-year-old’s amputation over phone theft

Mwalin Abdu, Vice Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe Branch, has condemned the amputation of the arms 12-year-old Adamu in connection with an alleged phone theft in the state’s Akko Local Government Area.  Abdu, Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee NBA, issued a press statement titled ‘Protecting our future: Urgent action needed on child safety in Gombe State’ to commemorate 2024 Children’s Day, condemning the recent maltreatment. The Kogi State police command has disclosed that two of the abducted students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, have been killed. Chronicle NG reports that gunmen invaded the university and abducted students who were preparing for their examinations. On May 14, Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi State Commissioner for Information, announced that 20 students had been rescued, with four still in captivity. The Kogi State Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal, which met in Abuja on Monday, affirmed the election that resulted in Usman Ododo, the state’s governor, representing the All Progressives Congress.  The three-member panel of justices, led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, dismissed Murtala Ajaka’s appeal from the Social Democratic Party for failing to significantly prove material facts as required by law. The tribunal determined that, in accordance with Section 135 of the Electoral Act, the petitioner failed to demonstrate how the claimed irregularities were significant enough to affect the entire election. Hausa, Yoruba clash sparks tension in Oyo

No fewer than 100 hoodlums stormed the Ipaja Police Station in Lagos State, causing panic in the area on Monday. According to reports, the incident sparked a gun battle between the thugs and police officers, with some of the thugs murdered. The attack led to a subsequent exchange of gunfire, which terrified the inhabitants. Police have been dispatched to the area to provide reinforcement. Gunmen kill 6, injures 8 in Plateau attack

No fewer than 18 passengers have been kidnapped by gunmen in an 18-seater bus along the Ikare-Irun Akoko-Ado Ekiti highway in Ondo State. The passengers were returning from a party held at a community in Ekiti State and were traveling back to Lkare, in Ondo State, on Saturday.
