Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, has named global icon Rihanna as his dream international collaborator.
Davido made the remark during a live stream interview on Twitch with the host @Theboyfromojo.
“Rihanna is my dream collab, but she’s not into music again. She makes billions from her makeup business now,” the singer said.
Davido expressed his appreciation for Rihana, stating that a collaboration between them would result in “dope music.”
The “I Know Who I Be” singer, however, voiced doubt that the collaboration would take place anytime soon.
According to him, Rihanna is more focused on her immensely successful Fenty cosmetics and fashion enterprises than on making new music.
The two artists share a mutual respect, as Rihanna has been very vocal about her appreciation for Davido’s catalogue.
She once declared Davido’s hit single “Unavailable” (with Musa Keys) her favorite song, playing it on repeat.
In response, Davido, who was grateful for the “shoutout,” jokingly referred to her as “my Ri Ri.”
Davido has collaborated with various foreign artists, including Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, and DaBaby, demonstrating the global appeal of his music.
Rihanna, who hasn’t released a complete studio album since “Anti” in 2016, has developed a corporate empire centered on Fenty Beauty.
