The trial of Godwin Emefiele, the immediate-past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), emcontinued on Tuesday, with a former Director of Operations at the apex bank, Ahmed Umar, telling the court that Emefiele’s naira redesign, which began in late 2022, did not receive approval from the Committee of Governors. The Ogun State Police Command apprehended three suspected Eiye cult confraternity members and rescued one victim during an initiation event at the Malaka Quarters in Owode Egba, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.  These suspects, Olayiwola Akinsanya, Keji Sodipo, and Oluwaseyi Olabamiji, were detained following a police report, and authorities jumped into action to apprehend them. Modupe, wife of the founder and lead pastor of an evangelical ministry situated in Lagos State, simply identified as Akintunde, has accused the pastor of assaulting her at their residence in the Onosa community, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of the state, over allegations of infidelity.  According to reports, the couple’s marriage, blessed with five children, started experiencing challenges when Modupe, on separate occasions, accused the pastor of having a romantic affair with two church members. The Federal High Court sitting in Kano has ordered the eviction of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the Kofar Kudu Palace, while a State High Court has restrained the police and other security agencies from carrying out the eviction order. On Tuesday, the Federal Court ordered the police to ensure that Aminu Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, receives all rights and advantages due to him as the genuine Emir of Kano. Senator Abdul Ningi’s suspension, which had been in place since March 12, 2024, has been revoked. The decision came after Deputy Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro presented a motion on Tuesday to apologise on Ningi’s behalf and accept full responsibility for his acts.
