Afrobeats star Burna Boy has reunited with Colombian music sensation Shakira ahead of their performance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
On Friday, Burna Boy posted a video to his X account of the two exchanging hugs, grins, and laughs during preparations for Sunday’s historic event at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
The Grammy-winning artist captioned the image, “Sunday Prep! @shakira, see you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The video, along with several photos, show Burna Boy and Shakira dressed casually as they embrace outside production trailers at the stadium, preparing for the highly anticipated performance.
FIFA previously announced that Burna Boy and Shakira would perform Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the competition’s first-ever Super Bowl-inspired halftime show.
Chronicle NG reported that the traditional 15-minute halftime interval would be extended to accommodate the entertainment spectacle, with television broadcasters planning a 30-minute break.
The extended interval is likely to contain the normal 15 minutes of match analysis as well as an 11-minute musical performance featuring Burna Boy and Shakira.
FIFA has also unveiled an impressive list for the concert, which will include BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, famous conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus, Coldplay, Sesame Street, and appearances by the Muppets.
Beyond entertainment, the halftime show is scheduled to feature worldwide education initiatives that benefit children all over the world.
The World Cup final on Sunday will feature reigning Copa América champions Argentina and European champions Spain.
Burna Boy and Shakira performed Dai Dai at the opening ceremony of the tournament in Mexico City, where the song was formally presented as the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
