Former Manchester United defender and French national team captain, Patrice Evra, has been handed a suspended 12-month prison sentence after being found guilty of abandoning his wife and two children. The Nanterre prosecutor’s office acknowledged the verdict, as reported by Le Parisien. The court decided that he abandoned Sandra Evra and their children between May 1, 2021, and September 28, 2023. He is said to owe €969,000 (£813,640) in overdue alimony. Rich McCormick, a member of the US Congress, has submitted a resolution to the Congress urging the release of Tigran Gambaryan, the arrested Binance executive, by the Nigerian government. Over 200 students of Saint Academy, Jos, Plateau State, are reportedly still trapped under the rubble of collapsed classrooms which collapsed while students were writing exams on Friday. The principal of the school, Mr. Daramola, disclosed this while speaking to the press at the scene of the incident. Describing the collapse as “heartbreaking,” Daramola pointed out that he was reduced to tears over the incident. “I wasn’t just myself. As a matter of fact, I was crying. Many staff and students are feared dead as a school building collapsed on children who were writing their third-term promotional examination. A two-story building of Saint Academy, Jos, Plateau State, collapsed at about 11. A.M on Friday while the students were in class. No fewer than 516 abducted victims have been rescued by the Katsina State Police Command in the last six months of January through June 2024. The police also disclosed that, during the period under review, it arrested more than 500 kidnapped suspects. The Defence Headquarters announced on Thursday that it discovered 57 illegal refineries and intercepted stolen crude oil worth more than N1 billion in one week.  On Thursday, the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army discovered and set fire to three illicit refineries at Obuaku and Imo River in the Ipu West towns of Abia State’s Ukwa West Local Government Area. 12 boats and six vehicles were set on fire during the “Operation Dragon Spit” operation, which was overseen by Maj.
