The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court in Lagos which on Thursday cleared ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s former aide, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, of the N1.6bn fraud charges pressed against him. After Justice Mohammed Idris handed Dudafa and his co-defendant, Joseph Iwuejo, a not-guilty verdict, the anti-graft agency has approached the Court of Appeal, seeking the reversal of the verdict. The Coalition of United Political Parties in the country has raised concern over the reported abduction of the National Chairman of the Action Alliance, Mr. Kenneth Udeze, by gunmen on Friday in Abuja. A suspected burglar, Babajide Sokeye a.k.a. prophet has been arrested by the police in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. The 25-year-old suspect was nabbed by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Prophet forcibly broke into the apartment of one of his neighbours, Kayode Ahmed, who had travelled out of town for some days. The Federal Government has commenced the installation of equipment and machines for the proposed pencil factory at the Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu. The Chairman, Governing Board of PRODA, Mr Daniel Onjeh, disclosed this on Friday in Enugu while briefing newsmen on the activities of the institute. Onjeh said that the PRODA school pencil project was a flagship and the first of such production facility in West Africa. A trial date has been set for Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, the alleged architect of the 9/11 attacks on the US. Mr Mohammad will be tried, along with four other men, at a military court in Guantánamo Bay from 11 January 2021. The men are charged with war crimes including terrorism and the murder of almost 3,000 people. Alvin Kennard, 58, was handed the harsh sentence under strict rules introduced in the 1970s to deter repeat offenders.
