The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, on October 2, 2026, while on routine patrol around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park, said it observed a fully tinted navy-blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows wound up.
The officers moved to inspect the vehicle and arrest the suspect after noticing that it was shaking.
The command said that, suspecting foul play, the officers approached the vehicle and opened it, only to find one Zayyanu Halilu allegedly raping a 12-year-old minor.
Following the discovery, the suspect was promptly arrested and the victim rescued.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the underage victim in the vehicle parked at the same location, threatening to “deal with her” if she revealed the abuse to anyone.
She said a medical examination also revealed that the victim was about three months pregnant as a result of the alleged abuse.
According to her, the victim is currently receiving medical care and undergoing assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
She said the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the whereabouts, safety and welfare of their wards at all times.
Members of the public are also enjoined to remain security-conscious and promptly report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883.
