President Bola Tinubu on Friday nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
The new nominations consist of three reappointments and three fresh nominees, and each will serve a five-year term once confirmed.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a statement he issued on Friday.
A letter from the President to the Senate dated October 30, 2026, states that the three renominated executive directors are Mr. Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director for Finance and Accounts; Mr. Ogbugo Ukoha, Executive Director for Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr. Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community.
The three new nominees are Mr. Mobolaji Musa, put forward as Executive Director for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations, and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms. Ogechukwu Modie, put forward as Executive Director for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr. Said Abutalib, put forward as Executive Director for Corporate Services and Administration.
“The President urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity,” the statement read.
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, contingent upon the completion of the statutory processes outlined in Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
These nominations follow several months after Tinubu named Rabiu Umar as the agency’s chief executive in April.
