In a video that has circulated on social media, a man was gruesomely killed by suspected cultists after which they were seen using his head as a football.

It was gathered that the victim was attacked and killed in a hostel at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Igbariam, Anambra state.

The deceased (wearing dreadlocks) was dragged out of his car and shot at close range before he was decapitated. His head was later used by the assailants to play football.

The Anambra police command has vowed to arrest the perpetrators of the heinous act.

In his reaction, the state police commissioner, CP Tony Olofu, who spoke through the command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the command was working hard to track down the culprits.

Ikenga said: “The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Tony Olofu, has ordered an investigation on the shooting incident on 25/9/2021 by 4 pm along Igbariam road.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the shooting was as a result of the rival cult clash. Meanwhile, Police Operatives have intensified patrol and surveillance within the area. Further details shall be communicated,” he said.

Meanwhile, two persons were feared dead as unknown gunmen struck Sunday night in Anambra State.

It was gathered that the incident happened in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

Also, three persons were set ablaze by the unidentified persons

A source, who spoke with journalists, said the incident took place around 5.45 pm at Afor Nnobi. The situation, the source further said, had created tension in and around the area.

A source said Mr Nelson Omenugha, son of the Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, was among those attacked.

Omenugha who is a staunch supporter of the former CBN governor’s governorship ambition was said to have escaped, but his Hilux was not spared as it was set ablaze.
