Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned online advertisements and promotions that exploit his name and image without permission.

In a message posted on his verified X account on Thursday, Obi stated that, despite previous comments from his aides, certain people continue to use his identity to mislead the public.

He urged the public not to believe any commercial claims linking him to products, corporations, or money-making activities.

“I wish to state categorically that I have no connection whatsoever with any of these endorsements or promotional activities. At no time have I authorized any individual, business, or online platform to use my name, image, or identity for commercial purposes or profit-making ventures,” Obi said.

Obi described the acts as fraudulent, deceptive, and aimed solely at exploiting public trust.

“The general public is therefore strongly advised to disregard these false claims and exercise utmost caution when encountering any online content that purports to represent or involve me in business dealings.

“Genuine information concerning me or my engagements will continue to be communicated through officially verified channels,” the former Anambra State governor added.

The allegation comes amid an increase in internet scams targeting unsuspecting Nigerians, with Obi’s name lately tied to bogus endorsements, including AI-altered films marketing platforms such as AfriQuantumX in late September 2025.
