Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two abduction victims in separate operations in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State, the Joint Task Force stated on Wednesday.
Operation ENDURING PEACE is the military task force currently undertaking counter-terrorism and internal security operations across Plateau State.
According to a statement issued by the media information officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Oteh, the rescues were part of “ongoing decisive operations across the various local government areas of Plateau State.”
The statement stated the operations were “conducted as part of deliberate efforts aimed at denying terrorists elements freedom of action across the state” and had “recorded appreciable successes as corroborated by some eyewitnesses and community leaders.”
Giving details, the statement noted, “As part of the ongoing operations, at about 09:00am on Tuesday, 25 August 2025, troops of sector 3 deployed within Bassa Local Government Area, acting on credible information on the kidnapping of one Mr. Ndubuisi Onuigbo, initiated a search and rescue operation leading to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim.”
In another operation, troops also rescued another victim in Kanam LGA.
“Similarly, at the early hours of today, Wednesday, 26 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, Operation ENDURING PEACE, deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area, during a fighting patrol encountered suspected terrorist elements along the patrol route. Troops aggressively pursued the terrorists, leading to the immediate rescue of a kidnapped victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was abandoned by the fleeing terrorists,” the statement read.
Captain Oteh stated that the rescued victims “have been successfully debriefed and reunited with their families.”
The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their conduct during the operations.
“He further appealed for calm, caution, and continued support to enable troops to achieve their mandate of restoring the desired enduring peace in the Joint Operations Area,” the statement added.
Major General Dangana has commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive posture in disrupting criminal activities and proactively restoring peace and security in Operation ENDURING PEACE Joint Operations Area.
