Dotun Oladipo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited, has been reported deceased at the age of 56.
Premium Eagle Media Limited is Eagle Online’s parent company.
The Eagle Online website announced Oladipo’s death early Wednesday.
The publication stated that Oladipo was in his “usual state of health earlier in the day before suddenly taking ill at his office.”
It described his death as a “shock” for coworkers, friends, and associates.
Danlami Nmodu, President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, confirmed the renowned journalist’s death on the guild’s WhatsApp app on Tuesday.
He once served as the guild’s president.
“It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President Mr. Dotun Oladipo died today.
“May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” the message read.
Also, the general secretary of Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Nkanu Egbe, announced on Wednesday.
Egbe wrote, “It is with profound sorrow that I announce the sudden death of our president, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56.
“Mr. Oladipo led our cooperative with dedication, alongside a distinguished journalism career spanning nearly three decades. His passing is a devastating loss not only to IMPCMS but also to Nigerian journalism as a whole.”
He disclosed that funeral arrangements and other important matters would be communicated at a later time.
“The Executive Committee will communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits, and interim leadership matters as they become available.
“Members are urged to keep his family and our cooperative in their prayers during this difficult time,” he stated.
Throughout his lengthy journalism career, Oladipo was the political editor of PUNCH Newspapers.
He also served on the newspaper’s editorial board.
After leaving PUNCH Newspapers, he worked for the Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun before starting Eagle Online.
He earned a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic in Abeokuta in 1992.
