    How to apply for FG’s TVET 2026 programme

    The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme as part of efforts to improve skills development and create more job opportunities across the country.

    The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, recently announced the development via his X handle, describing the initiative as central to the administration’s human capital development agenda.

    “Today marks the opening of applications for the second cohort of our National TVET Programme, a key step in advancing human capital development,” he said.

    He noted that the programme recorded over 1.3 million applications during its first phase, demonstrating the level of interest in technical and vocational training across the country.

    Applications for the new cohort opened on April 13, 2026, and interested applicants are expected to complete the process through the programme’s official online portal.

    Requirements

    Applicants must have a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).

    Advanced tracks may require proof of prior learning or basic certificates.

    Biometric attendance is required to qualify for stipends.

    The programme provides free tuition, monthly stipends, and practical training in over 25 trades, such as electrical installation, welding, and fashion design, as well as certification and startup support across accredited centres nationwide.

    Application Steps

    1. Visit the official portal and click “Apply.”
    2. Create an account.
    3. Verify your NIN and BVN.
    4. Fill in the required personal details.
    5. Select your preferred programme: Short-Term Certificate (STC, six months) or Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI, one year).
    6. Upload the required documents, including your NIN and contact details.
    7. Choose your preferred training centre and trade area.
    8. Submit your application.
    9. Wait for confirmation or further feedback from the programme portal.
