The Nasarawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of 150 suspected drug traffickers between July 2023 and June 2024. Peter Onche-Odaudu, the NDLEA’s State Commander, made the announcement on Wednesday during the grand finale of a week-long event in Lafia commemorating the 2024 United Nations International Day against Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The Kaduna State House of Assembly has been sued by former governor Nasir El-Rufai on grounds that his administration embezzled N432 billion and left the state with massive financial commitments.  On Wednesday, the former governor filed a petition in the Federal High Court of Kaduna against the Kaduna State House of Assembly, alleging violations of fundamental rights. Residents of Torough and surrounding areas are allegedly being taxed and levied by suspected armed bandits operating in Benue State’s Ukum Local Government Area.  Yesterday, information was obtained from a community member who spoke anonymously out of concern for possible attacks, stating that the bandits had imposed a N20 million monthly charge on every household. Mrs. Ifeoma Amarachukwu Ochiagha, an Anambra State woman, was among those who lost their lives last Monday during an attack by gunmen in Nnobi and is set for burial this Thursday. The Lagos State Government has attributed the frightening number of deaths in the state’s most recent cholera outbreak to its late presentation.  It revealed that the total number of cholera cases has risen to 579, 43 of which were verified through laboratory investigation, with Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa Local Government Areas having the greatest numbers.
