Veteran South African gospel artist Solomon Molokoane, popularly called Solly Moholo, has died at the age of 65, his management has announced. The award-winning music icon had been in the hospital for many weeks after becoming ill while on a music tour in Botswana last month. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s, becoming a household figure in South African traditional gospel music. No fewer than nine people were killed in a fire at a hospital in southern Taiwan, according to local media.  The fire broke out at the Pingtung County Hospital about 09:40 local time (01:00 GMT), just as Typhoon Krathon made landfall to the west in adjacent Kaohsiung. The speaker of Georgia’s parliament on Thursday signed into law a bill that curbs the rights of LGBTQ people, despite warnings from the EU. The move occurred a day after Georgia’s pro-Western president, Salome Zurabishvili, declined to sign the bill, citing disagreements with the ruling Georgian Dream party. Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State marched on Wednesday to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin to protest against the outcome of the September 21 governorship election in the state. Suspected armed herdsmen carried out a fatal attack on the Egwuma village in Benue State’s Agatu Local Government Area, killing six people, including two soldiers, on Tuesday.  According to a local resident named Anthony, the herdsmen stormed the village at 5 p.m., terrorising residents. The attack reportedly caused residents to evacuate their houses in terror.
