The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked reports making the rounds that it has declared the immediate past governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle wanted. In a June 18, 2023 statement signed by Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity of the EFCC, the commission stated that the Commission has yet to announced Matawalle wanted or solicit the assistance of any Agency, including the DSS, to effect his arrest. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and other 13 former governors in the 10th Senate to disclose the total amount of life pensions, if any, that have been receiving from their states as former governors”. On Friday, the Oyo State Police Command paraded 21 armed robbery suspects, including a gang that killed one Makanjuola Ogedengbe and raped his two daughters in Apaatuku/Onireke village, Akobo, Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.
