The Enugu Electrical Distribution Company (EEDC) has voiced worry about ongoing vandalism to electrical installations in Abakaliki.  According to a statement published on Sunday by EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezehon, the loss of electricity in Abakaliki was caused by vandalism to the Udemezue 11KV Feeder in the early hours of the day. A Nollywood filmmaker, linked to major illicit drug activities across the country, was among prominent individuals arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the New Year. Marketers and merchants of petroleum products will begin lifting Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from the Port Harcourt Refining Company this week, assuming no last-minute changes to preparations.  Joseph Obele, Publicity Secretary of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, confirmed this in an exclusive chat with our correspondent. Nigerians have expressed deep concern over the alleged dwindling health condition of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday, January 6, for Accra, the capital of the Republic of Ghana, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama. Three Nigerian women who were arrested and convicted for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia have been released and acquitted after ten months in prison.  Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, confirmed the development on Sunday, emphasising the significance of the diplomatic efforts that resulted in the women’s release.
