The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of two brothers for allegedly killing and burying their brother in a shallow grave in their compound in the Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. No fewer than 95 people have been confirmed dead and 130 are injured after a major earthquake struck the mountainous Tibet region on Tuesday morning, Chinese state media say. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a remittance of over N6bn to the coffers of the Nigerian government in 2024. In 2024, JAMB earned N22,996,653,265.25 and remitted N6,034,605,510.69 to the government, according to the board’s weekly bulletin. The reduction of N1,500 in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination form fees for candidates increased the effective remittance to N9,013,068,510.69. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it dismissed 27 of its officers last year for misconduct and fraudulent activities. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced resit examinations for candidates. This was stated to allow them to retake their West African Senior Secondary Examinations papers as early as January and February 2025.
