The autopsy report on the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, identified a drug response as a likely cause of death.  According to The Cable, the autopsy and toxicology tests performed at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital pointed to a fatal anaphylactic shock or drug response as the potential cause of Mohbad’s death. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, dismissed reports that the Federal Government was proposing a new minimum wage of N105,000.  The report came after President Bola Tinubu was briefed on the costs of adopting a new national minimum wage at the Presidential Villa last Thursday. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, condemned the shutdown of the national grid during the suspended industrial action by organised labour.  He described the action as a treasonable felony, adding that there was nowhere in the world where organised labour had shut down a country’s national grid. A Federal High Court in Lagos granted an order yesterday for the temporary forfeiture of N11.14 billion in property allegedly linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.  The presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, made the order following an ex parte motion submitted and contested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN. The Presidency has stated that two trending fiscal policy documents in circulation are still ideas and have not been authorised by President Bola Tinubu.  It further emphasised that the fuel subsidy system has ended and that the government’s stance on fuel subsidies has not altered since Tinubu’s announcement on May 29, 2023. The Nigerian Army has refuted accusations of mass executions in the country’s South-east.  According to the Army, Simon Ekpa, a faction leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, accused the army of murdering innocent residents in the South East and putting their bodies in the river. However, the Army, in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, denied the claims. The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has encouraged the Federal Government to actively hire and provide automatic employment to newly qualified nurses and midwives as a strategy to fight the present brain drain in the health sector.  The group made this request during a recent presentation to the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions.
