The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the registration for the 2025 Direct Entry (DE) examination beyond the initial deadline of Monday, April 7, 2025. The examination body confirmed this Sunday in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. The registration process, which began on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, will continue until a closing date is announced, JAMB added. David Umahi, minister of works, said the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos is intended to prevent suicide attempts. The minister disclosed this in an interview on Channels TV. In February, Umahi announced that the federal government had installed surveillance cameras on the Third Mainland Bridge. Nigeria’s ministry of health has received over 1,000,000 meningitis, pentavalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (Men5CV). A statement said the vaccines were sent from the Gavi-funded global stockpile to combat the meningitis outbreak in northern Nigeria. The disease has already claimed over 70 lives, with more than 800 cases across 23 states. Gavi funds the global stockpiles of vaccines against cholera, ebola, meningitis and yellow fever, which are accessible to all countries in the world. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Bayelsa state command, has denied allegations that ex-first lady Patience Jonathan illegally detained 15 of her former domestic staff at the Okaka Custodial Centre in Bayelsa.
