Sixteen people were rescued alive following the collapse of a building at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi, in the Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State.
However, three of the victims were rescued unconscious.
Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
“The Kano State Fire Service wishes to inform the general public at about 4:32 am. Today, Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Service’s Emergency Response Unit received an emergency call from one of our staff, Aminu Sani Warure, reporting the collapse of a building at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area.
“Upon receiving the report, men of the service from the headquarters were immediately mobilized to the scene.
On arrival, they discovered that a residential building of about 20 × 30 ft had collapsed,” the statement said.
According to the statement, all of the victims were handed over to their father’s brother, Usman Ibrahim, for additional attention.
According to the statement, an investigation is proceeding to determine the cause of the occurrence.
“The Kano State Fire Service urges members of the public to observe all necessary safety precautions, particularly during the rainy season, to prevent similar incidents,” the statement added.
