Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested three more persons suspected to be members of the kidnapping gang that abducted Samuel Okunsebor, dean of agriculture at Nasarawa State University.
The latest arrests were made on Friday night at a local brothel in Mararaban Akunza, along the Lafia-Makurdi highway, according to a security source.
Okunsebor was rescued by DSS operatives two days after he was abducted by gunmen on Wednesday, July 15, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon LGAs.
Two suspects, including a woman, were arrested during the operation that led to the professor’s rescue.
The source said the three suspects arrested on Friday were identified as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black/Starboy, of the Doemak tribe in Plateau State; 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga; and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.
Mairiga is Hausa, while Abubakar is Fulani, the source added.
The suspects are currently being held by the state command for further investigation, the source said.
According to the source, their detention followed a valid warrant issued by a magistrate’s court.
