The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former governor Abdulaziz Yari in connection with the investigation of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris. Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state was arrested on Sunday at his residence in Abuja days after he won the ruling APC’s ticket for Zamfara West senatorial election. He won unopposed. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered fresh N90billion fraud against the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, taking his total to N170 billion fraud. Idris, who is battling to secure bail on Sunday night, has revealed the names of some top government officials allegedly involved in some transactions. As part of the probe, the EFCC grilled a Permanent Secretary in connection with some “deals in which he was implicated”.
