The Lagos State Government says it will demolish the remaining buildings on the land, where the 21-storey building collapsed on Gerrard Road, in Ikoyi. Dr Idris Salako, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, disclosed this at a news conference on the handing over of the complex to the contractor for deconstruction on Thursday in Lagos. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Akwa Ibom primary that produced Akanimo Udofia as a governorship candidate was not monitored by it’s officials. INEC noted similarly that the primary that produced former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, as APC senate candidate was also not monitored. The two botched primaries were reportedly held around midnight on May 26 and June 9, respectively. Defence Headquarters says its troops in various theatres of operations in the North West have eliminated scores of bandits and recovered large cache of arms and ammunition in two weeks.
