Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state on Friday berated his critics and urged them to come to Delta to assess the level of infrastructural development across the state. The governor gave the charge while addressing newsmen after inspecting the ongoing projects at the Dennis Osadebey University, Asaba. Okowa gave assurance that the university would wear a new look by December 2022, when the projects would have been completed. “When people in Lagos and Abuja say that they are not seeing what we are doing, it is either that they don’t come home or that they just want to be wicked…
Clinics have begun closing in some US states after a Supreme Court ruling on Friday removed American women’s constitutional right to abortion. About half of states are expected to introduce new restrictions or bans after the court overturned its 50-year-old Roe v Wade decision. Of these 13 have outlawed abortion instantly. President Joe Biden described the ruling as “a tragic error”. Protests are under way in cities across the US. In Phoenix, Arizona, police fired tear gas after pro-choice protesters banged on the doors and windows of the state capitol. In Los Angeles protesters briefly blocked traffic on a highway.…

The three All Progressives Congress (APC) members contested the presidential primaries and while Akpabio stepped down for the eventual winner, Bola Tinubu, Lawan and Umahi lost. US companies including Walt Disney Co and Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc said on Friday they will cover employees’ expenses if they have to travel for abortion services after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. The US Supreme Court on Friday overturned the landmark 1973 ruling that recognized a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, handing a victory to Republicans and religious conservatives who want to limit or ban and, in some states criminalize, the procedure. Many states are expected to further restrict or ban abortions following the ruling, making it difficult for female employees to terminate pregnancies…

Wade ‘egregiously wrong’ The US Supreme Court on Friday overturned the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that recognized women’s constitutional right to abortion, a decision condemned by President Joe Biden that will dramatically change life for millions of women in America and exacerbate growing tensions in a deeply polarized country. The court, in a 6-3 ruling powered by its conservative majority, upheld a Republican-backed Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks…

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Bashir Machina as the All Progressives Congress, APC, Yobe North senatorial candidate. The announcement by the electoral body brings to an end the lingering controversy of who the APC candidate for the senatorial district. Machina and the Senate President Ahmed Lawan have been at loggerhead over who the APC candidate is. Although Lawan did not contest the Yobe North primary, he was named as the party’s candidate by Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of APC. Instead of contesting the senatorial primary, Lawan had vied for the APC presidential primary losing to Asiwaju…
