Six are reportedly been trapped under a seven-storey building that collapsed close to Sand Field Bus Stop, Lekki area of Lagos state. The building, located on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, was said to be under construction before it came down early Sunday morning. Emergency responders had been deployed to the scene of the incident as efforts were underway to rescue the trapped victims. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to use his “leadership position to urgently withdraw the names of nominees recently submitted to the Senate for confirmation as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who are allegedly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).” According to reports, the president had on 26 July sent to the Senate the names of 19 resident electoral commissioners for confirmation. The Nigeria High Commission in Kenya has refuted an online media report alleging the targeting and killing of Nigerians in the East African country. In a statement issued in Nairobi on Saturday the Commission described the story as a concoction replete with falsehood. It urged the public to refrain from interfacing with faceless groups or individuals who invest shamelessly in propagating irritants injurious to the cordial diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Kenya.
