The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday March 7, 2023 secured the conviction of fourteen internet fraudsters before Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of Edo State High Court Benin City. They were arraigned by the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC on a separate one count charge of fraudulent personation. The convicts are Gift Patrick, Lucky Paul Omofureta, Elvis John Mathew, Jeremiah Rebirth Umoru, Alex Aimuawosa Yuodegha and Daniel Mathew. Joy Jeff, a Nigerian woman who has been wanted in Italy since 2010 has been extradited from Abuja back to Rome where she has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for crimes including running a prostitution ring, Italian police said on Wednesday. Joy Jeff, who is 48, was one of the few women on Italy’s most-wanted list, police said in a statement, describing her as a prominent figure in the Nigerian mafia. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports that its presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso has congratulated Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
