The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that two persons have died and several injured in a train and bus collision at PwD, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday morning. A Lagos State Government staff bus with registration no 04A- 48LA was this morning crushed by a moving train at PWD, Ikeja area of Lagos. LASTMA enforcement officers who was the first emergency responder at the scene of the accident had called other emergency responders and at present rescue activities are currently on-going. The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus is fully loaded with government staff going to office this morning, LASTMA spokesperson, Adebayo Taofeek said. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to postpone the March 11 governorship and state assembly elections. The electoral body is expected to make an announcement on Wednesday night after a meeting between the chairman and national commissioners. The Louisville, Kentucky police department whose officers fatally shot Breonna Taylor in 2020 routinely discriminates against Black residents, uses excessive force and conducts illegal searches, the US Justice Department said on Wednesday. The department’s findings come nearly two years after US Attorney General Merrick Garland launched a civil rights probe into the police department and the Louisville-Jefferson County government to evaluate whether police routinely use unreasonable force and conduct unconstitutional searches. The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, on Wednesday, granted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s, request to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, machines used for the presidential election. The court sitting sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja also dismissed objections by the Labour Party, LP, and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi. LP and Obi had objected INEC’s plan to reconfigure all the BVAS because it feared that all presidential election data on the machines could be wiped out.
