The Delta State Police Command says five persons died with properties comprising eight buses, two tankers, five trailers, two cars, and one motorcycle burnt totally in an early Sunday blaze. The accident occurred on Sunday when a tanker carrying PMS was heading towards Benin along the Warri-Benin Road crashed, spilling its contents into a nearby marsh. Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has renamed the state’s International Passenger and Cargo Airport after late novelist Chinua Achebe in order to honour him for leaving an everlasting effect on the history of human civilization. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against the 36 state governors in the country over “their failure to account for the spending of the N72 billion palliative collected from the Federal Government, including details of the beneficiaries and the reliefs provided with the money.” The Federal Government recently disbursed N2 billion out of the N5 billion palliative package to each state of the federation and the federal capital territory (FCT), to address the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy.
