Bayern Munich maintained their unbeaten start to the Champions League campaign with a confident 2-0 win away to Atletico Madrid.
Teenage talent Lennart Karl endured a first half to forget, yet he made amends by opening the scoring with a cheeky finish nine minutes into the second half.
The 18-year-old slipped in behind Robin le Normand, stole the ball off the Atletico defender, and lifted it calmly over Jan Oblak.
Konrad Laimer doubled the visitors’ advantage, unleashing a ferocious strike over Oblak and into the roof of the net after Harry Kane found him in space.
Kane, featuring in his first European game since claiming the Ballon d’Or, had less fortune in front of goal and passed up the chance to make more history by matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the longest Champions League scoring streak.

The England captain had found the net in each of his previous 10 appearances, but he could not trouble the Atletico goalkeeper slicing an acrobatic effort wide before firing a low shot off target.
Oblak produced a fine save to tip a deflected Dayot Upamecano strike onto the crossbar, while Manuel Neuer had a quiet evening at the other end dealing with just one shot on target from the hosts.
Bayern stay unbeaten in the Champions League this season and continue their campaign against Lille on Wednesday 25 November, while Atletico take on Norwegian champions Viking the same evening.
