The police in Sokoto State have confirmed an attack carried out by suspected bandits that killed three people and injured others in the Soro community in the state’s Binji Local Government Area. While verifying the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Sokoto, ASP Ahmad Rufai, stated that some gunmen presumed to be bandits launched an attack on the Soro village, but members of the police command, with the assistance of military operations, repelled the attack. The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the appeal submitted by Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Rivers State, challenging the election of Simnalayi Fubara of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Following Fubara’s announcement as the victor of the March 18 governorship election, the LP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with their candidates, petitioned the tribunal.
