Police are on a manhunt for the buyer of a baby stolen by a home help in Shomolu, Lagos. Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed on Monday that the buyer abandoned the baby as the police dragnet was closing in. “In the early hours of Monday, the buyer abandoned the baby at Alade Market, Shomolu, because of intense manhunt and pressure from the police. “The baby was promptly rescued by the police. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended massive consignments of Ghanaian Loud trafficked into Lagos in two trucks and a J5 bus, totaling 14, 524.8 kilogrammes. NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, announced this in a statement on Sunday. The Police in Kano State  on Saturday announced the arrest of some thugs hired to disrupt the re-run election in the Kunchi Local Government Area of the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, revealed this while speaking with journalists in Kano. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended re-run elections at 20 polling stations in Kano, Enugu, and Akwa-Ibom states. Sam Olumekun,  INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday. The Oyo State Government has suspended the traditional ruler of Ido town in the Ido Local Government Area of the state, Oba Gbolagade Babalola (Gbadewolu I), over his alleged ties with illegal miners.
