A former minister of commerce and industry, Jubril Martins-Kuye, is dead, the Ogun state government has confirmed. Martins-Kuye died on Sunday morning at his hometown, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State. His death was confirmed to our correspondent by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, in a telephone interview. Uganda’s main opposition presidential candidate Bobi Wine says his life is being threatened following Thursday’s election which saw Yoweri Museveni win a sixth elected term. Two women judges working for the Supreme Court were shot dead in Kabul on Sunday, according to officials. The women were targeted by gunmen while travelling to their office in a vehicle, a court spokesman told AFP. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 1,598 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Saturday. The 1,598 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 108,943. Jihadists aligned with the Islamic State militant group have captured a military base in northeast Nigeria’s Borno state after overnight clashes with troops, sources told AFP on Saturday. The Federal government has approved the closure of enrolments at the headquarters of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and created 20 new centres within Abuja and its environs.
