The Senate, on Wednesday, approved the sum of $2.6 billion (USD) out of the $5.5 billion external borrowing request sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari in May last year. The approval came after the Upper Chamber considered a report by the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts during plenary. Members of a notorious Mexican cartel have used drones to drop explosives on police, injuring two officers. Officials think the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) is behind Tuesday’s attack in the western state of Michoacán. In August, two rigged drones were found in the car of suspected CJNG members. The approval followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariffs. A personnel of the Oyo State Security Network Agency codenamed ‘Amotekun’, Suleiman Quadri, has been killed by gunmen. Quadri was said to have been ambushed by the bandits numbering about 11 while escorting the staff of a farm to the farmland in Fiditi on Tuesday.
