Ibrahim Attahiru, has solicited the support of the Senate in ensuring appropriate funding for the Nigerian army to efficiently perform its constitutional roles and defeat all security threats. The World Health Organisation (WHO) is launching a new initiative which aims to halt the transmission of malaria in 25 more countries by 2025. The initiative is to be launched on World Malaria Day on April 25. Thailand, South Africa and Saudi Arabia are among the countries the WHO aimed to make malaria-free. The Kaduna chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has subjected all its local government chairmanship aspirants to written examination and oral interview. A hospital employee in Italy has been accused of skipping work on full pay for 15 years, local media report. The man is alleged to have stopped turning up to work at the Ciaccio hospital in the southern city of Catanzaro in 2005. He is now being investigated for fraud, extortion and abuse of office, Italian news agency Ansa reports. US drugmaker Pfizer on Wednesday confirmed that suspect doses of its coronavirus vaccine that were seized in Mexico and Poland were indeed fake, with doses going for as much as $1,000 a shot, according to US media. At a clinic in Mexico some 80 people received bogus doses of the drug, which appeared to have been physically harmless, though offering no protection against the potentially deadly disease ravaging the country, a report in the Wall Street Journal said.
