Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Udochukwu Ugochukwu Simeon for allegedly creating fraudulent clones of the Commission e-mail address, and using same to defraud unsuspecting victims. The 26-year-old suspect created an Outlook email account of the Commission, “efccnigeria.org.ng@outlook.com” and a webmail, info@efcc-nigeria.org.ng which he uses to impersonate the EFCC. Investigation by the Cybercrimes Unit at the Commission’s headquarters, Abuja indicates that the suspect also uses the two fake e-mail accounts to send messages to his victims, while posing as an officer of the Commission trying to help his victims recover their stolen monies. The Kwara State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to forward a bill to the House stipulating the death penalty for kidnappers in the State. The Federal government is set to slash the salaries of civil servants in the country. The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed said that President Buhari had directed the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission to reduce the salaries of workers and employees of several agencies to save costs. Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kogi State. Confirming the kidnap in Lokoja on Tuesday, MACBAN Secretary, Adamu Abubakar, said the victim, Wakili Damina, was abducted on April 30 by gunmen wearing military uniforms at Chikara village in the Local Government Area of the state.
