The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 secured the conviction of one Prince Oyinlola Adedayo Emmanuel and two other persons who were prosecuted on offences bordering on love scam and cybercrime. A Kaduna High Court on Wednesday discharged and acquitted the leader of the Shiite group, Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife. El-Zakzaky was injured and arrested along with his wife, in the 2015 Zaria massacre, in which three of his remaining sons, as well as hundreds of his followers, following a clash with the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto state has arrested a wanted notorious bandit, Bello Galadima. Mr Saleh Dada, the Commandant of NSCDC in the state told newsmen on Wednesday that Galadima, 40, had been on the wanted list. Dada said that the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday at his hideout at Aliyu Jodi in the Sokoto metropolis. The Emir of Kontagora in Niger State, Alhaji Sa’idu Namaska, has pleaded with bandits to permit them to cultivate their farms as the farming season has begun. The Emir cited food scarcity in the country which was largely due the COVID19 pandemic as well as insecurity in the country. The Supreme Court has dismissed the election suit filed by Eyitayo Jegede and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the October 2020 governorship election in Ondo state. The decision of the apex court to dismiss the suit comes after the Court of Appeal had upheld the election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as the duly elected governor in the Southwest state.
