Shell Petroleum Company has been ordered to pay the sum of N45.9 billion to the people of Ogoni in Rivers State. The directive was given to the multinational company by a Federal High Court presided by Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Wednesday who added that the sum must be paid within 21 days. The sum is a cost awarded against the company several years ago for oil spillage in Ogoniland. Gani Fawehinmi’s eldest son, Mohammed Fawehinmi has died at the age of 52. According to sources close to the family, Mohammed died on Wednesday after complaining of difficulty in breathing after which he was rushed to the hospital where he eventually passed on. The late activist was a lawyer and the head of Mohammed Fawehinmi Chambers. Mohammed was born on February 21, 1969. The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the quartet of Lucky Ebhogie, Richman Kas Godwin, Israel Justin and Precious Iwuji for internet-related fraud. They were arrested on August 5, 2021 in the Sabo area of Kaduna, Kaduna State following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud activities. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are mostly involved in impersonation and romance scam; faking the identities of US military personnel on foreign missions to deceive their victims. The wife of a former councillor, Hassana Saudaki and her eight-month-old baby have been abducted from their residence in Zamfara state. The victim’s husband, Babangida Damba the former councillor of Tudun-Wada Gusau ward, stated that the unfortunate incident happened on Wednesday. According to him, the bandits invaded their residence at the Government Residential Quarter in Damba, shooting him and his 26-year-old wife. Real Madrid authorities are set file a series of lawsuits against La Liga over a deal that will allow a private equity company to acquire a 10% share of future La Liga television rights.
