President Muhammadu Buhari returns to Abuja, Nigeria from the United Kingdom

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived back in Abuja today after a scheduled medical check-up in the United Kingdom. According to eyewitness accounts, all movements to and fro the airport has been restricted. A helicopter was also sighted ready to airlift the president on arrival. Commercial flights have also been restricted as well. They are hovering in the air as they cannot land yet. Passengers en route to the airport are afraid to miss their flights as they have been barred from getting to their destination. Okada riders in Lagos motorcycle

A motorcycle operator (Okada man) has been reportedly burnt to death by a mob who falsely accused him of theft. The victim identified as Aliyu Ya’u of Birnin Kudu town was accused of stealing a motorcycle in Babaldu village in Birnin Kudu local Government area of Jigawa State. The incident was confirmed by the  state’s Police spokesman ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who explained that Aliyu was accused of stealing a Boxer Motorcycle. He was chased down and set ablaze instantly. Cross River records new COVID-19 case, activates response team

The Nigeria center for Disease Control has recorded 753 more cases of COVID-19 and five deaths within the last 24 hours. The national health agency which announced this on Thursday night added that the infections were recorded from thirteen states including Lagos and the Abuja. Lagos recorded the highest number of infections with 364 new cases, FCT reported 12 infections while Akwa Ibom had 141 cases. Scottish education secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said ‘This guidance outlines how schools can support transgender young people while ensuring that the rights of all pupils are fully respected

Children as young as four will be able to change their gender at school without their parents’ consent under guidance introduced in Scotland. Nigeria has been ranked as the fourth-best in the world in terms of COVID-19 response according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract with the Reds until the summer of 2025 joining a list of other players to commit their future to the club. Dogara Liman arrested by EFCC for contract scam

Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Dogara Liman for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretence. The suspect, sometime in March, 2014, allegedly obtained the sum of N5million from a victim on the pretext of financing a contract purportedly awarded to him by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, through TETFund.
