President Muhammadu Buhari arrived back in Abuja today after a scheduled medical check-up in the United Kingdom. According to eyewitness accounts, all movements to and fro the airport has been restricted. A helicopter was also sighted ready to airlift the president on arrival. A motorcycle operator (Okada man) has been reportedly burnt to death by a mob who falsely accused him of theft. The victim identified as Aliyu Ya’u of Birnin Kudu town was accused of stealing a motorcycle in Babaldu village in Birnin Kudu local Government area of Jigawa State. The incident was confirmed by the  state’s Police spokesman ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who explained that Aliyu was accused of stealing a Boxer Motorcycle. He was chased down and set ablaze instantly. The Nigeria center for Disease Control has recorded 753 more cases of COVID-19 and five deaths within the last 24 hours. The national health agency which announced this on Thursday night added that the infections were recorded from thirteen states including Lagos and the Abuja. Lagos recorded the highest number of infections with 364 new cases, FCT reported 12 infections while Akwa Ibom had 141 cases. Children as young as four will be able to change their gender at school without their parents’ consent under guidance introduced in Scotland. Any pupil who decides they want to switch gender must be supported and listened to in school following the Scottish Government advice. The guidance applies in primary schools, where the youngest children are only four or five, because “recognition and development of gender identity can occur at a young age”. The Niger state commissioner of Information and Strategy who was kidnapped from his residence on Monday has been released by his captors. The commissioner, Sani Idris, was abducted from his home at Babban-Tunga village in Tafa local government area of Niger state. The victim revealed that his abductors who came from Zamfara state were contracted to kidnap him based on information that he recieves huge amounts of money from the governor on a monthly basis. Nigeria has been ranked as the fourth-best in the world in terms of COVID-19 response according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The global health agency’s representative, Dr Walter Mulombo revealed this when Nigeria received its first acquisition of 177,600 doses of the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine yesterday in Abuja. At least 1,173,132 doses of the vaccine, part of the 29.8 million doses procured by the Federal Government through the African Export-Import Bank, will arrive this month. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract with the Reds until the summer of 2025 joining a list of other players to commit their future to the club. Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Dogara Liman for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretence. The suspect, sometime in March, 2014, allegedly obtained the sum of N5million from a victim on the pretext of financing a contract purportedly awarded to him by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, through TETFund. He lured his victim with a promise of N1.5million return on investment but once the victim lodged the N5m into his account, he diverted the money to offset a loan.
