Paul Pogba says Manchester United need to “change something” after being beaten 4-2 by Leicester, their second defeat in three Premier League games. United have taken one point out of a possible nine, dropping to fifth and losing ground in the title race. There have also been several other unconvincing performances this season. “We have been having these kind of games for a long time and haven’t found the problem. We have conceded easy and stupid goals,” Pogba told Sky Sports. “If we want to win the title, these are the games we need to win, even if they are…

Chelsea returned to the top of the Premier League as Ben Chilwell’s strike – and some strong work to hold off intense late pressure – clinched victory at west London neighbours Brentford. After Liverpool had gone top by thrashing Watford earlier on Saturday, Thomas Tuchel’s side responded in the late game with a mature and dogged display against their promoted hosts. England left-back Chilwell scored in the final minute of the first half with his third goal in three games for club and country. The European champions dominated the first half but had to dig deep to secure the three…
Ruben Neves scored a 95th-minute winner as Wolves came from 2-0 down to snatch an incredible victory in an extraordinary West Midlands derby. Wolves looked down and out when John McGinn added to Danny Ings’ opener to give Villa a two-goal cushion midway through the second half. But in a dramatic final 10 minutes, Wolves scored three times to seal a third straight Premier League win. Romain Saiss reduced the deficit from inside the six-yard area, then Conor Coady bundled in an 85th minute equaliser after Max Kilman had headed against the bar. Neves struck in the fifth minute of…
Raheem Sterling could not mark his return to Manchester City’s starting line-up with a goal but Kevin de Bruyne made certain his side still beat Burnley after Bernardo Silva’s early strike. City had won 5-0 on each of the Clarets’ past four visits to Etihad Stadium and it seemed like a similar scoreline was on the cards when the impressive Silva followed up Phil Foden’s shot to give the home side an early lead. The home side enjoyed most of the possession and created plenty of chances but failed to extend their advantage, giving the visitors hope. Burnley gave them…

Leicester scored twice late on to win an enthralling Premier League encounter against Manchester United at King Power Stadium. Substitute Marcus Rashford looked to have extended the visitors’ unbeaten away record to 30 top-flight games with an emphatic equaliser on his return from injury. However, Vardy scored 54 seconds later from Ayoze Perez’s cross and Patson Daka added a fourth with a header in stoppage time. Manchester United criticised for flying 160km to Leicester Mason Greenwood had given United an early lead but the Foxes hit back with goals from Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu before the dramatic conclusion. Manchester United have defended their decision to fly the 100-mile journey to their Premier League game at Leicester. United say they would not normally fly to the game but plans changed due to “circumstances”. There were reports of traffic congestion on the M6. Flying is a significant contributor to global warming and world leaders are meeting later this month in an attempt to avoid a climate catastrophe. Manchester United defended its commitment to clean energy. Climate experts and campaigners say we need to avoid or reduce flying because greenhouse gases, produced when fuel is burned, are “the root cause” of…
Roberto Firmino scored a hat-trick as rampant Liverpool condemned Claudio Ranieri to a miserable start to life as Watford manager in a one-sided game at Vicarage Road. The home side had no answer to Liverpool’s fluid attacking play. Sadio Mane became the third African player to score 100 Premier League goals before Roberto Firmino struck either side of the break and Mohamed Salah finished a brilliant individual goal with a smart shot beyond Ben Foster. Firmino completed the scoring in the final minute for his first hat-trick since December 2018. Man City fight back twice to reach stalemate with Liverpool…
