BBNaija winner Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged winners in the celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event, held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on October 1, 2026, while Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah dethroned Godday “Zodsolo” Appah in the main event.
Phyna, born Josephina Otabor, defeated actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout in their four-round bout, becoming the first woman to win a celebrity boxing match in Nigeria.
After the fight, the former Big Brother Naija champion pointed to Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia as her next opponent, claiming she had been harassing her via direct messages.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who was at ringside when Phyna knocked out Nkechi Blessing, took on the challenge straight away with no hesitation.
“I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” she said.
Phyna also took home ₦50m as the winner of the historic bout and made it known that she plans to go into professional boxing, hinting that her win over Nkechi Blessing might be the start of a longer career in the sport.
In the second celebrity bout, Carter Efe overwhelmed Speed Darlington across their four-round crossover contest, halting the musician, who had stopped moving, to secure a technical knockout win.
That win kept Efe’s unbeaten record intact in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
Efe had earlier beaten singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in a celebrity boxing match on May 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, taking the three-round bout by unanimous decision after all three judges scored it 30-27 in his favor.
Tension between Efe and Speed Darlington had grown ahead of their October clash, as the two entertainers traded confrontational comments during the build-up before resolving their differences in the ring.
In the main event, Appah surrendered his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship to Gyimah, who claimed a unanimous decision win to dethrone the Nigerian champion.
The event gathered celebrity entertainers and professional boxers for an evening of high-profile fights, rivalries, and championship action. It aired live on SuperSport and DAZN, with the card powered by Bet9ja.
