The Edo Police Command has confirmed the killing of two of its officers attached to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Prof. Sylvanus Okogbeni. NAN reports that the incident happened at Ramat Park, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state on Monday while the CMD was returning to Benin. In a bid to reduce and recover loans from debtors, banks have resolved to seize debtors’ deposits for loan repayment. This was agreed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commercial banks in the country. This means that loan defaults will be settled using deposits made in other banks. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has cautioned Nigerians, especially youths and owners of small-scale businesses against fraudulent messages on social media requesting loan seekers to apply for loan in the name of CBN. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has denied closure of the Seme-Krake border with the Republic of Benin, explaining that the ongoing joint security exercise in the area was to tackle trans-border crimes. Kenya exported its first-ever batch of crude oil Monday, with President Uhuru Kenyatta declaring the shipment of 200,000 barrels a “special moment” in the country’s history.
