A staff of Auchi Polytechnic, Mr Samuel Okolie, who was said to have been abducted by gunmen on October 9 has been found dead. Okolie was found dead in his farm at Aviele community, near Auchi in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo early on Sunday. Okolie’s death occurred barley two weeks after another staff of the polytechnic, Dr S. Okhikhena, said to be Okolie’s close friend was similarly murdered. Osun workers say they will join the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) if the Federal Government and labour failed to reach an agreement on salary increase. Mr Jacob Adekomi, the Chairman of the state chapter of the NLC made this disclosure on Monday. Adekomi said he had received the directive on the proposed strike by the national headquarters of the congress and that the directive would be followed to the letter. Moghalu announced his resignation from the party via his official Twitter account on Monday, calling for reforms of the electoral system ahead of the 2023 general election. Cristiano Ronaldo reached a career landmark on Monday by scoring his 700th career goal in Portugal’s Euro 2020 qualifier at Ukraine. The 34-year-old scored a penalty as Portugal lost 2-1. The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure at what it described as unwarranted attacks by a group – Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) – preparatory to its hearing of an appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says Nigeria lost over N39 billion to tanker and trailer-related road crashes in 2018. Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal, FRSC, made the disclosure on Monday in Lagos at a stakeholders’ meeting with tank farm operators, with theme “Safe Haulage Vehicle Operations in Nigeria’’. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria is fully cooperating with the International Criminal Court (ICC) preliminary examination into issues related to insurgency in the North East to ensure the process is forthrightly concluded. Igbo Leaders have failed to disclose the agenda for their meeting with President Mohammad Buhari scheduled to hold this week.
