The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday re-arraigned Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, lawyer to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The re-arraignment of Giwa-Osagie and his brother, Erhunse Giwa-Osagie became necessary as they are appearing before another judge, Professor Chuka Obiozor for the first time. Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, seeking approval on the issuance of N10.069 billion for promissory note programme of Kogi State. The president is also seeking the Senate’s approval for a bond issuance to settle inherited debt. Senate President Ahmad Lawan read the president’s letter on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday. Wazobia FM has apologised and retracted its story on the allegations made by Timi Frank that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo received N90 billion from FIRS as campaign funds for 2019 polls. A political group in Nigeria has described labour unions unrelenting attitude towards embarking on an industrial action over the proposed salary increase across board as unpatriotic, stressing that, dialogue should be the only way. The Coalition of Nigerian Youths for Good Governance (CNYGG) believes that the action of labour unions to call for a nationwide strike is not in the interest of Nigerians. Minister for Finance, Budget and National Planning,  says under-recovery of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly referred to as fuel subsidy will gulp N450 billion in 2020. She said this on Monday in Abuja, at the public presentation of the 2020 budget proposals. Ahmed said it was called ‘under-recovery’ because it was the cost of operation of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). “We have a provision for under-recovery of PMS in the sum of N450 billion. Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler, has been commended for facilitating the increase of non-oil revenue collection and contributing towards the country’s recovery from economic recession.
