The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the rescue of six out of the 10 persons abducted last week by unknown gunmen at Pegi and Dafara community in Kuje Area Council. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Anjuguri Manzahp, said in a statement in Abuja that a joint operation comprising other security agencies had been set up to ensure that all the kidnapped victims are set free. Battujo: Lagos court convicts 11 Indian sailors over cocaine trafficking

A 46-year-old man Tunde Omisakin was yesterday sentenced to 12 years Imprisonment, by a Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere, for causing the death of his girlfriend, Tina Toroso. Omisakin was charged for cutting the right hand of his girlfriend with a cutlass which resulted in her death. He was first arraigned sometime in 2010 but was re-arraigned on February 16, 2016, before Justice Adedayo Akintoye when the former judge handling the case retired. There was drama on Tuesday as a petrol-laden tanker ran into a container lorry in the Mile 2 area of Lagos State. The tanker driver had in a bid to avoid mild traffic, ignored the directives of officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and rammed into the container lorry around 11am. Nigeria public debt stands at N25.7trn up by N3.32trn in one year as at the end of June 2019, the Debt Management Office said on Tuesday. While the Federal Government owed N20.42trn as at June 30, 2019, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory debt portfolio stood at N5.28trn.
