Nigerian German musician, Ade Bantu, has released a new single titled ‘Disrupt The Programme’ to reflect the political happenings in Nigeria including kidnappings and poverty. The five minutes single opens with an intro that says, “Currently, the freedom of expression, right to protest and of peaceful assembly is being threatened in Nigeria. Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has tested positive for coronavirus and is in hospital but is showing no symptoms, his family have announced. Dalglish was admitted to hospital on Wednesday for treatment of an infection which required intravenous antibiotics. The 69-year-old former Celtic and Scotland forward was routinely tested for coronavirus after being admitted. “Unexpectedly, the test result was positive but he remains asymptomatic,” the Dalglish family said. Lifting coronavirus lockdown measures too early could spark a “deadly resurgence” in infections, the World Health Organization chief has warned. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said countries should be cautious about easing restrictions, even as some struggle with the economic impact. Europe’s worst hit countries, Spain and Italy, are both relaxing some measures, while their lockdowns continue. Globally there are 1.6 million cases of coronavirus and 101,000 deaths. The US has become the first country in the world to record more than 2,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day. Figures from Johns Hopkins University show 2,108 people died in the past 24 hours while there are now more than half a million confirmed infections. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has dismissed the 5G coronavirus conspiracy theory and declared that viruses cannot travel on radio waves or mobile networks. The organisation said in a statement yesterday that contrary to the theory, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease which is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. “People can also be infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, mouth or nose,” it said. Controversial Nigerian musician Naira Marley has agreed to produce a video to sensitize people on COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with the Lagos State Government. Marley told an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos via an April 9 letter that he would make the video at his cost.
