    Andre Braugher, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ star dies at 61

    Emmy Awards-winning actor Andre Braugher has reportedly died, aged 61.

    Braugher was best known for his roles in Homicide: Life on the Street as Detective Frank Pembleton and Captain Raymond Holt in the popular comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

    According to his publicist, the actor died on Monday after a brief illness.

    Braugher became a beloved figure in the entertainment industry due to his exceptional talent and captivating presence.

    Throughout his career, he demonstrated his versatility by playing a variety of roles in both television and film, leaving an indelible impression on audiences all over the world.

    Andre Braugher’s portrayal of Captain Raymond Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine not only highlighted his comedic timing but also broke down barriers by portraying a multi-dimensional black and gay character on television.

    His nuanced performance gave underrepresented communities visibility and representation, earning him praise from both critics and fans.

    Braugher’s dedication to his craft, as well as his ability to bring depth to every role he takes on, cements his status as a true entertainment industry icon.

    He won two Emmy Awards for his roles in Homicide and Thief, out of a total of 11 nominations.

    Terry Crews, who played Terry Jeffords in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, called Braugher’s “irreplaceable talent” in a statement.

    “I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you, and shared eight glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent,” Crews posted on Instagram.

    “This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you.

    “Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness, and your friendship.

    “You showed me what a life well lived looks like.”
