Katsina State House of Assembly has approved the sum of N80.4 billion as this year’s budget estimate for the 34 local government areas of the state.
The approval followed the adoption of a report presented by the House Committee on Local Governments and Emirate Affairs on the floor of the House.

Garba Hussaini Dankanjiba, the House Committee chairman, while presenting the report, said the committee arrived at the balanced budget where the sum of N80,400,796,313:00 was the expected revenue and same amount also represented the total expenditure.
The committee, however, observed that due to the default in the payment of housing units and others, the local government areas were making heavy losses in their internally-generated revenue.
He further added that the current security challenges have contributed immensely to the dwindling revenue generation in most of the council areas of the state.
