The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a nationwide free online membership registration platform ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the digital platform is part of the ADC’s ongoing statewide membership registration and revalidation exercise, which was announced last month in Abuja.

According to the party, the new portal is intended to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 governing digital membership registries.

“The new digital registration platform… is designed to enable the party to meet the requirements of the new Electoral Act 2026 regarding digital membership register,” the statement said.

The party clarified that only members whose information is completely captured and validated on its official digital register will be entitled to participate in its primaries, whether as voters or aspirants.

“Accordingly, only individuals whose membership details are fully captured and verified in the Party’s official digital register will be eligible to vote or be voted for in the Party’s primaries,” it added.

While launching the online option, the ADC stated that manual registration would continue concurrently across states to accommodate members who prefer physical enrollment.

The party stated that it has seen an increase in interest from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora since the commencement of its physical and grassroots membership drives in February.

It stated that the online option is meant to remove entrance obstacles, streamline enrollment, and increase participation.

“Introduction of the free online option is designed to remove barriers to entry, simplify enrollment, and ensure that every eligible Nigerian who wishes to identify with the ADC can do so seamlessly and securely,” the statement said.

The ADC also stated that members who enrolled on its previous digital platform must revalidate their information on the new portal in accordance with the Electoral Act and rules given by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Similarly, support organizations and associations were encouraged to register on the site.

The party stated that the exercise does not affect its objections to some aspects of the Electoral Act 2026 or the present INEC timeline.

On February 18, President Bola Tinubu signed the Electoral Act modification into law, which requires political parties to submit comprehensive digital membership registers to INEC prior to their primaries.
