Liverpool has issued lifetime bans to more than 400 individuals involved in ticket touting offences as the club ramps up its efforts to combat illegal ticket sales.
The club, in collaboration with Merseyside Police, seized assets worth more than £1.2 million linked to organised ticket touts as part of an operation to combat the laundering of criminal proceeds from illegal ticket sales.
According to BBC Sports, Liverpool imposed 432 lifetime bans and 115 indefinite suspensions on individuals found guilty of ticketing violations following the investigation.
Merseyside Police Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield praised the police-Liverpool partnership, calling it an important step toward protecting genuine supporters.
“This is a fantastic example of partnership working between ourselves and Liverpool Football Club for the good of the fans and the general public,” Suffield said.
He also stated that authorities would continue to take action against touts who exploit fans wanting to purchase tickets to watch their team.
The assets recovered during the operation were divided between Merseyside Police and the Home Office.
Liverpool’s recent step is part of a larger drive to combat ticket fraud. The club previously stated that it has closed 145,000 ticket accounts over a two-year period in an effort to combat ticket touting.
During the 2025-26 season, Liverpool examined nearly 700,000 ticket registrations, blocking or cancelling 67,663 suspected bogus accounts, while another 121,379 remained under investigation.
The club also revoked 3,847 tickets after detecting suspect purchase activity and returned them to general admission sales to boost availability for legitimate supporters.
In addition, Liverpool boosted matchday enforcement efforts, conducting targeted checks at Anfield and away games to prevent entry by persons related to suspicious ticket activity.
The club stated that each home game saw an average of 300 interventions, with similar operations taking place during Premier League and European away games.
